Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) joined her colleagues in government and community leaders recently at Destination: Great Neck’s inaugural “Gatsby Fest,” a street fair with live jazz, dancing, speakers and more.

A centerpiece of the event was the ceremonial renaming of a portion of Middle Neck Road at Cedar Drive in Great Neck Estates as “Great Gatsby Way.” Legislator Birnbaum cleared the way for this tribute by securing unanimous support for a measure that the Legislature approved on Monday, Sept. 27.

“It was wonderful to see the culmination of Destination: Great Neck’s hard work in the Gatsby Fest,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “Thank you to all of my colleagues in government and our local community leaders for their many contributions to the success of this wonderful celebration of the Roaring Twenties and American literature. Let’s capitalize on this successful event by shopping and dining in our lovely Great Neck community!”
