The holiday season is almost upon us. A model train is the classic holiday toy. For those enthusiasts who want to share their love of model trains or anyone who just wants to share the joy with their family, below is a list of upcoming model train open houses to view set ups and events.
Long Island Model Railroad Engineers Open Houses
When: November 6 - 7, November 20-21, December 4-5, December 11-12, 11am - 4pm
Where: 3661 Horseblock Road, Unit P, Medford
What: This is a great opportunity for members of the public to view a large-scale model train layout in operation. Members will operate multiple trains using digital command control on the Club's HO and N Gauge layouts.
Long Island Auto Replica Society (LIARS) Car Model Show
When: November 13, 2021, 9am - 3pm
Where: Freeport Recreation Center, 130 E. Merrick Road, Freeport
What: Trainville Hobby Depot show.
Central Operating Lines Model Railroad Club Swap Meets
When: November 14 and December 12, 8:30am - 1pm
Where: AmVets Post 18, 141 Carleton Avenue, East Islip
What: All Gauges of trains are available. Entry fee is still only $5 per person.
Central Operating Lines Model Railroad Open Houses
When: November 19, 6 - 10pm, December 4-5, 11am - 4pm
Where: 50 A Carlough Road, Bohemia
What: Collecting a new unwrapped toy for the John Theissen Foundation (jtcf.org) at these open houses. Free admission.
Town of Oyster Bay Model Train Show
When: Saturday, November 20 and Sunday, November 21, 11am - 4pm
Where: Hicksville Community Center, 28 W. Carl Street, Hicksville
What: The show includes operating model layouts coordinated by Trainville Hobby Depot. Donations are being accepted at the exhibit to support the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum.
Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers Open House
When: December 3-5, 2021
Where: 2953 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown
What: See Long island’s largest O Gauge layout.
