Long Island Crisis Center Asks You to Volunteer & Help Save a Life
Bellmore, NY - October 21, 2016 - Long Island Crisis Center, the 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline, is currently recruiting volunteers to participate in its upcoming Counselor Assistant Training Program.
With suicide rates increasing and at-risk populations growing, the Crisis Center is asking the community to get involved and become a lifesaving partner. No counseling experience is necessary and the hours are flexible to accommodate the individual needs of volunteers. Completion of the Counselor Assistant training is a prerequisite for the Crisis Center’s Counselor Training, which begins in March 2017.
The free, comprehensive orientation training program takes place over 3 three-hour sessions at the Crisis Center’s office in Bellmore. November’s training will be held on 3 successive Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on November 8th, 15th and 22nd. December’s training will be held on 3 successive Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on December 3rd, 10th and 17th.
