New York, NY - October 22, 2014 - It’s a “tale of three cities” for GingerBread Lane for the 2014 holiday season. Three completely new versions of the Guinness World Record-holding gingerbread village will be unveiled in New York City starting mid-November. The three villages will welcome visitors on November 14 at The New York Hall of Science, Queens; on November 20 at The Algonquin Hotel Times Square, Manhattan; and on November 27 at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge.

Acknowledged as the largest gingerbread village in the world by the 2014 Guinness World Records, the largest of the GingerBread Lane villages -- a 1.5 ton, 450-square-foot village made entirely of edible gingerbread, royal icing, and candy -- will re-invent itself in 2014 at the New York Hall of Science with 1000 houses and a new circular format on November 14. Adding a transparent area for visitors to walk underneath as well as more New York City icons, the village will again contend for the Guinness World Record. Smaller versions will be displayed at The Algonquin Hotel Times Square in Manhattan and at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. On display through January 11, 2015, GingerBread Lane is the creation of Chef Jon Lovitch and takes one year to develop and complete, requiring approximately 1,500 hours of labor.

As a grand finale, Lovitch will give away all houses on January 11; he will also ship houses to children unable to visit due to illness or other personal situations. To view the exhibit, visit www.gingerbread-lane.org, or Facebook: GingerBread Lane.

This year, GingerBread Lane celebrates its 21st season with its 30th, 31st and 32nd villages.  The new circular-format village at the New York Hall of Science weighs 1.5 tons and includes an estimated 3000 pounds of icing, 600 lbs. of candy from 14 countries, and 600 pounds of gingerbread dough.  It comprises 1000 gingerbread houses, 95 trees, 6 gingerbread cable cars, 5 gingerbread train cars, an underground candy subway station, a skating rink, candy trees, sugar signage and more. Newest additions include additional New York City favorites: bridges, more cable cars, newsstands, the S.C. Kringle & Co. department store guarded by GBL nutcrackers; CandyCorn Commons featuring 10 varieties of candy corn; and other surprises. The two smaller versions of GingerBread Lane are located at The Algonquin Hotel Times Square in Manhattan and the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. While layout and composition change yearly, GingerBread Lane always includes Eggnog Bay, Gum Drop Row, Peppermint Central Park, Candy Cane Place, and Toffee Boulevard.

A continuing part of the GingerBread program, Lovitch will lead three gingerbread house workshops at the New York Hall of Science on November 22, December 13 and December 27 and will conduct the highly anticipated GingerBread Lane house giveaway on January 11, where fans can take home gingerbread houses.  He will also ship houses to children unable to attend the exhibit or giveaway due to health or other situations.  GingerBread Lane is a project conceived and funded entirely by Jon Lovitch.
