Teen Arrested for Posting Threat to Shoot Teachers & Students on Social Media

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Copiague Middle School student after he posted a threat on social media.
 
A 13-year-old male posted in a social media group chat that if school was in session on October 24, he would shoot teachers and students at Copiague Middle School. The post was shared by multiple students and a parent notified school officials who called police.
 
The teen was charged with Making a Threat of Mass Harm, a Class B Misdemeanor, and will be arraigned in Suffolk County Family Court at a later date.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
