On Friday, October 25th at 5pm, the Long Island Maritime Museum will host its 30th annual boat burning. This year, the musuem will be seeting a 1963 36-foot Chris Craft originally named the Heidi Lee in flames. The boat is no longer safe to sail or restore, so it will be burned.

This is going to be one of the most original Halloween events of the season. Somewhat like the traditional Viking funeral, they place the boat on the museum's property and light it on fire, all overseen by the local fire department.

People of all ages are invited to come down to the Long Island Maritime Museum to enjoy the boat bonfire and welcome in the autumn season during this unique event. There will also be entertainment, light refreshments and a boat raffle.
