Legislator Bill Lindsay’s Semi-Annual Holbrook Clean-Up Was a Great Success for the Community
Holbrook, NY - October 26, 2018 - Suffolk County Legislator Bill Lindsay III along with the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) sponsored their tenth semi-annual Holbrook Clean-Up this past Saturday. Over 100 Holbrook residents assisted with the clean-up in order to improve the aesthetic of their hometown. Volunteers met at Legislator Lindsay’s office to pick-up their garbage pickers, bags, and gloves at 8:45 AM on Saturday. Many were returning volunteers that look forward to the bi-annual event.
Legislator Lindsay’s late father, Presiding Officer Bill Lindsay, commenced this event many years ago along with the Chamber; it has remained a community tradition. It is a wonderful way for children and adults to work together in order to beautify their neighborhood. Students may request community service recognition from Legislator Lindsay upon the completion of their clean-up efforts.
"Thank you to Legislator Lindsay's Staff, and the overwhelming response from our community for our clean-up on 10/20,” said Rick Ammirati, President of the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce. “The Town has never looked cleaner. Led by Nick and several of his students from Cutting Edge Kempo Karate on Main Street the turnout this year was over 100 volunteers who eagerly canvassed and cleaned up just about every public corridor of Holbrook."
“Every community clean-up we host is filled with eager volunteers, and admirable community service efforts by all,” said Legislator Lindsay. “It is important to me to carry-on my father’s tradition, and maintain a strong partnership with the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce. The clean-ups are paramount in the beautification of our neighborhood. As always, I am proud of the children, and adults who consistently donate their time to this cause. I look forward to the next clean-up in the spring.”
Suffolk County Legislator Bill Lindsay is the Chairman of the Economic Development Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Parks & Recreation Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Government Operations, Personnel, Information Technology, and Housing Committee. Bill represents the 8th legislative district.
