75-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in West Hempstead by Vehicle While Crossing Street
The Homicide Squad is investigating a Fatal Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 6:47 a.m. in West Hempstead.
According to Detectives, a female pedestrian, identified as Cathie Laurie of West Hempstead, age 75, was crossing Cornwell Avenue at the intersection of Wildwood Road when she was struck by a 2019 Hyundai SUV traveling eastbound on Cornwell Avenue operated by a 19-year-old male.
The driver remained at scene. Laurie was pronounced at scene by Police Medics.
The investigation is ongoing.
