Miller Place, NY - October 28th, 2013 - New York Governor Andrew Cuomo endorsed Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker for re-election, citing her commitment to protecting Suffolk County taxpayers.

"Today I am proud to endorse Sarah Anker for county legislator," said Governor Cuomo. "Long Islanders need leaders in Suffolk County who will keep spending under control, balance budgets and protect taxpayers. Sarah Anker represents exactly that type of leadership and she is the type of partner I need on the local level to keep moving Suffolk and Long Island forward."

"Governor Cuomo has worked across party lines to protect New York taxpayers and create jobs," Anker said.  "In the Legislature, I share those values and have worked hard in the Legislature to protect Suffolk County taxpayers."

Legislator Anker has provided a strong, independence voice for working families.  She has made the tough choices to make Suffolk County government more efficient, which saves Suffolk taxpayers $100 million per year in reduced costs and allows the county to stay under the tax cap.

After Newtown, Anker worked with law enforcement to create the School Active Violence Emergency (SAVE) hotline.  Understanding that in school shooting events seconds can save lives, the hotline immediately connects school personnel to the 911-call center supervisor to improve police response.
