AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

11 William Floyd High School Students Selected For Nyscame All-county Honors Festival

Eleven William Floyd High School students have been selected for the NYSCAME All-County Music Festival, an honors festival for students who have demonstrated excellence on their instruments or with their voices.

Mastic Beach, NY - October 30th, 2013 - Eleven William Floyd High School students have been selected for the NYSCAME (New York State Council of Administrators for Music Education) All-County Music Festival, an honors festival for students who have demonstrated excellence on their instruments or with their voices. The students will perform at the NYSCAME All-County Music Festival in November.

“This is a great honor for our music students, our teachers and our school district,” said Ryan Feldscher, lead music teacher, William Floyd School District. “To be recognized for this particular festival, students must be among the best 11th- and 12th-grade musicians in Suffolk County. These students and their teachers work very hard and have truly earned this recognition.”

The following students have been named for NYSCAME All-County: Brianna Balzano (alto) and Samantha Passarella (soprano) for Women’s Choir; Brittnee Brennin (alto), Matthew Frisher (tenor), Nicholas Terlato (tenor), Kwasi Enin (bass) and Michael Walker (bass) for Mixed Choir; Delaney Hafener (french horn), David Pennise (french horn) and Avalon Monti (trumpet) for Band; and Katerina Grein (violin) for Orchestra.
