Two Suffolk County Marine Bureau officers rescued a kayaker whose kayak overturned in Bellport Bay on Sunday.
Officers Terence McGovern and Jack Jantzen responded on Marine Mike to a 911 call from a man whose kayak had overturned between buoys 8 and 9 just before 1pm. The officers located the man and were able to pull him to safety out of the chilly water.

The kayaker, who was wearing a lifejacket but not a wetsuit, was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
