According to a new study released by Atticus, New York is now ranked as the #10 most dangerous state for workers in the United States. The study extensively surveyed 1,000 employees and gathered recent data from authoritative sources, including OSHA, BLS, and Google Trends.

Key Findings: 

  • New York ranks #10 most dangerous state for workers (meta-ranking of OSHA work-related fatalities, BLS work-related non-fatal injuries, and work-related injury search rank).
  • New York ranks #2 in the work-related injury search rank with 388 searches per 100,000 residents.
  • North Dakota, Georgia and Mississippi are the other most dangerous states for workers, while South Dakota and Washington are the safest.
  • Transportation and material moving occupations are the most dangerous, accounting for 30% of all fatal work injuries.
