AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The First Squad reports the arrest of four Nassau County men for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 11:00 p.m. in Baldwin. 
 
According to Detectives, Officers were performing a routine patrol and observed a speeding vehicle traveling southbound on Grand Avenue. They conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop in front of 2283 Grand Avenue and observed four men inside the vehicle: Malachi Sweatte, 18, Estiven Membreno, 18, Nikko Wagner, 18, and Chevez Jackson, 18. 
 
Upon further investigation, Officers located a loaded Glock 19 9mm handgun and multiple bottles containing a liquid drug that is believed to be Promethazine. All four defendants were arrested without incident. 
 
Defendant Sweatte is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. He will be arraigned on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead. 
 
The other three defendants: Membreno, Wagner, and Jackson were released on Appearance Tickets.
