NCPD: Freeport Man Arrested During Traffic Stop for Possessing Loaded Glock Handgun
The First Squad reports the arrest of four Nassau County men for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 11:00 p.m. in Baldwin.
According to Detectives, Officers were performing a routine patrol and observed a speeding vehicle traveling southbound on Grand Avenue. They conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop in front of 2283 Grand Avenue and observed four men inside the vehicle: Malachi Sweatte, 18, Estiven Membreno, 18, Nikko Wagner, 18, and Chevez Jackson, 18.
Upon further investigation, Officers located a loaded Glock 19 9mm handgun and multiple bottles containing a liquid drug that is believed to be Promethazine. All four defendants were arrested without incident.
Defendant Sweatte is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. He will be arraigned on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
The other three defendants: Membreno, Wagner, and Jackson were released on Appearance Tickets.
