Missing Long Island Boater Identified, Online Fundraiser Held for Family

Police have idenified the missing boater whose pilotless vessel washed up on shore at Smith Point on Sunday as Todd Mauro, 52, of Ronkonkoma.

 

Mauro left from the South Shore Boat Yard, at 57 Patchogue Street in Patchogue, according to police. He was last seen October 30 at approximately 11:30am.

 

A fundraiser is being hosted online for Mauro through a GoFundMe page that has been set up for the family.

 

For now, Mauro's fate remains unknown.

 

According to the fundraising page Mauro is the father of three children and that he went out on his boat on Sunday, October 30th and did not return.

 

“On October 30, 2022, the Mauro family was struck with tragedy and is in need of all of our love and support,” the fundraising page reads. “Todd was a dedicated and loving father who would do anything for his children… They will need the support of all those who love them and their dad, Todd. Please help this family bear the financial burdens that are upon them. Any contribution is deeply appreciated.”

On their Facebook page, the Coast Guard has said that it is suspending the search, pending any new information. As of yesterday, Suffolk Police say they were still continuing to search.
