A man was arrested by Suffolk police last night after he made contact with a 28-year-old woman and allegedly told her he was an FBI agent and restrained her against her will. The unnamed woman posted on social media after which 27-year-old Brandon Knap, of Center Moriches, made contact with her.

There is no word from police on what she posted or if the two were known to each other before the incident.

Police say that the young woman then invited Knap to meet her at a relative’s house in Commack, where he convinced her he could take her to a safe house. Knap left with the woman in a 2004 Mercedes Benz.

A concerned family member called her cell phone and, after speaking with her, the family member feared for the victim’s safety and called police, who were able to locate the vicinity of the victim’s phone.

Southampton Town Police were dispatched to the area and the victim was eventually dropped off at a nearby restaurant. Police responded to the location and transported her to the Seventh Precinct.

Following an investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, Knapp was identified and located in his car in Riverhead. He surrendered to a police in front of 55 Whitebrook Drive at 10:11 pm.

Knapp was charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.
