November 4, 2013 - Valley Stream NY., - On Tuesday, November 5, 2013 voters have an opportunity to end the waste and aggressive abuse happening in The Town of Hempstead, America's largest township, by electing a fresh slate of candidates.

"I am running for Hempstead Town Supervisor to reform Town Government by making it transparent, accountable, and fiscally responsible.  Making government transparent means providing accurate and timely information to the people.  This is the first step in putting the power where it belongs, in the hands of the people. During Kate Murray’s first nine years in office she raised property taxes 44.9%.  The increases in Town taxes exceeded the rate of inflation by over 50% even while the workforce was being reduced by 6%. During her first nine years in office she approved special district tax increases of over 40%. During her first nine years in office, the Animal Shelter budget doubled, and the State Comptroller's report showed widespread financial mismanagement," states Felix Procacci, Hempstead Town Supervisor Candidate.

Felix Procacci is the Democratic candidate for Hempstead Town Supervisor. Felix Procacci is a Franklin Square resident who is running to: create a transparent and accountable Town government; get Town Hall meetings online; require Town government to provide residents with the cost of settled employee contracts; post employee contracts online; post all budget data online in a format that allows for searching and sorting; post all Town Board member votes online; and to end the waste and abuse at Town Hall. Felix Procacci is a computer programmer, community activist, husband, and father of two (Katherine 12 & Kenneth 9).

Jasmine Garcia-Vieux is the Democratic and Working Families Party Candidate for Hempstead Town Clerk.  Eleanor’s Legacy, Planned Parenthood of Nassau County, and The Nassau County Sheriff’s Correction Officers Benevolent Association have endorsed Jasmine. Jasmine is committed to making your voice heard in our community. Like you, she wants to play an active role in making the community, a safer, better place to live, work and raise children.  Jasmine is advocating for open government and strongly believes our elected officials should not only work for us, but WITH us.  It is time for new leadership – a style of leadership that is engaging.  As your Town Clerk, Jasmine will work to build and nurture relationships within our communities through constant communication efforts.  It’s time for INNOVATION - innovation in the way our political leaders approach tomorrow’s challenges.  As your Town Clerk, Jasmine will embrace technology to provide better services for the people of the Town of Hempstead.

Patrick “Paddy” Gillespie is the Democratic and Working Families candidate for Hempstead Town Council. Patrick Gillespie is an East Rockaway resident who is running for Town Council in order to speak for those communities that are currently underrepresented.  He is running to represent young adults who lack opportunities due to the small number of jobs and unreasonably priced apartments in the Town of Hempstead.  He is also running to represent both the Hispanic and the general Democratic community who have been disenfranchised and marginalized by the recent Town and County redistricting process: a process that lacked transparency and accountability. Patrick “Paddy” Gillespie is a graduate student, a committed son and brother, and a community activist.

Diane Madden is the Democratic candidate for Hempstead Town Council.   Diane Madden, an East Meadow resident, is running for public office in order to shine a light on the waste and abuse in the Hempstead Town government.  Diane Madden wrote, “In view of the findings from the NYS Comptrollers Audit regarding the animal shelter, it is my suspicion that taxpayer money and operations at other departments throughout the Town of Hempstead are equally and grossly mismanaged.” Diane Madden is a committed activist (with a focus on animal welfare), a community leader, and a mother of four children (Danica, Daniel, Derek, & Dylan).
