With Veterans Day around the corner and in recognition of the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces, Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino joined with local scouts in delivering Hometown Heroes banners to veterans and their families in communities throughout the Town of Oyster Bay. Earlier this year, banners were unveiled at parks throughout the Town in recognition of over 200 veterans and active-duty personnel – both living and deceased.
Supervisor Saladino stated, “The Hometown Heroes Banner program is an excellent opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who both served and continue to serve in our United States Armed Forces. These banners serve as a stark reminder of the commitment to defend our freedoms and democracy that these amazing men and women displayed during some of the toughest times in our nation’s history.”
Banners bearing the Hometown Heroes name, rank, photograph and area of service were unveiled throughout park facilities across the Town of Oyster Bay. Residents will have the opportunity to sponsor a veteran or active-duty personnel member for 2025. For more information on the Hometown Heroes Banner program, visit www.oysterbaytown.com/herobanners.
