Oceanside Man in NCPD Custody After Allegedly Choking and Robbing Woman

Oceanside, NY - November 6, 2017 - The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of an Oceanside man for a Robbery that occurred on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Oceanside.
                 
According to Detectives, police responded to a disturbance on 4th Street on Friday, November 3rd at 11:32 a.m. in Oceanside. While investigating, police were notified by the female victim, 33, of an incident that occurred between herself and the defendant Filippo Califano, 55, of Oceanside. The victim was thrown to the ground, choked and her keys were forcefully removed from her hand.  The defendant was located and placed under arrest without incident.
                 
Defendant Califano is charged with Robbery 2nd degree, Assault 2nd degree and Strangulation 2nd degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
