Special Weather Statement issued February 9 at 4:06AM EST by NWS Upton NY Light freezing drizzle and areas of light snow will be ending across the region early this morning. A light glaze of ice is possible along with one to two inches of additional snow accumulation. Roads may remain icy, especially if untreated. Motorists need to be exercise caution and be prepared for hazardous travel.

An arrest of a Rockville Centre individual for Driving While Intoxicated in Wantagh.

The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Rockville Centre individual for Driving While Intoxicated at 11:04pm in Wantagh.
 
According to Officers, defendant William Hunt, 68, of 24 S. Park Drive was operating a 2014 Subaru Forrester northbound on Wantagh Avenue when the vehicle struck an unoccupied parked vehicle causing the Subaru to flip onto its side.
 
The Nassau County Emergency Services Unit had to extricate Defendant Hunt from the driver’s seat of the vehicle and he was transported to a local area hospital. The investigation revealed that Defendant William Hunt had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and he was unable to perform other sobriety tests.
 
Defendant William Hunt is charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
