Southampton Police Investigating "Swatting" Incident after False Shooting Report

Multiple police agencies responded to a call reporting a shooting in Westhampton; officers on scene determined that no shooting had occurred at the residence, official say. 
 
On Friday November 3rd , 2023 at about 10:22 PM the Southampton Town Police Communications Division received a call about a possible shooting that had occurred inside a residence on Highland Street in Westhampton. 
 
Multiple Southampton Town Police Patrol Units responded and were assisted by several surrounding police agencies. Police Officers on scene determined that no shooting had occurred at the residence and that the 911 call was a possible “Swatting” incident where a prank phone call is made in order to draw a large police presence to a particular location.
