AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Man Arrested for Multiple Acts of Criminal Mischief

Suffolk County Police arrested a Deer Park man last night for damaging the tires on more than 19 vehicles in the Deer Park area during the past month.

Deer Park, NY - November 10, 2014 - Suffolk County Police arrested a Deer Park man last night for damaging the tires on more than 19 vehicles in the Deer Park area during the past month.

First Precinct Crime Section officers John Focas and Madeline Cunningham were investigating several incidents of vandalism to vehicles in the parking lots of the Deer Park Library, Deer Park Bowl, and various supermarkets when they discovered many more connected incidents in which the tires were punctured with a sharp object. The incidents occurred from early October to the beginning of November.

Scott Silverman, 56, of 68 Irving Avenue, Deer Park was arrested in connection with these cases and has been charged with 19 counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and one count of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. He is being held at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
