Selden, NY - November 10, 2015 - Suffolk County Community College President Dr. Shaun L. McKay, third from right, welcomed members of the 106th Rescue Wing of the Air National Guard, at left, the Patriot Guard, veterans and active duty military to the College's Ammerman Campus in Selden on Monday November 9th for the College's annual Veterans Day ceremony. Suffolk County has the largest population of returning veterans in New York State according the County's Veterans Services Agency. McKay told the gathered veterans that the college is committed to assisting veterans in every way possible. The college recently appointed a director of veterans affairs who is responsible for developing and implementing training sessions for faculty, administrators and staff about best practices for providing services to veterans, developing policies related to veteran’s affairs, design and implement student veteran recruitment strategies and complete the design and implementation of on-campus Veterans Resource Centers.
