The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, will tip off their 2022-23 home schedule at Nassau Coliseum this Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. in a matchup against the Maine Celtics. Opening night is presented by Homewood Suites Carle Place – Garden City.
Arena doors will open for the game at 12 p.m. and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free, limited-edition replica New York Nets ABA T-shirt jersey. The LI Nets Kids Zone will return this season in the North End Zone of the arena and will include a Tempered Steel Gaming Truck, arcade and lawn games. The first 100 children to visit the LI Nets Kids Zone on Sunday will receive a complimentary photo and autograph with the team’s mascot, Dale the Eagle.
“We are excited to begin our fifth season on Long Island and seventh in the NBA G League,” said Alton Byrd, Senior Vice President of Growth Properties at BSE Global, parent company of the Long Island Nets. “The Long Island community has supported us from the start and we cannot wait to once again play in front of the best fans in the league.”
Additionally, during Sunday’s game, the LI Nets will honor local heroes by recognizing two military veterans from Long Island in an on-court ceremony prior to tipoff as Veterans of the Game – Dawn Pierce and Benedicto Santana of the United States Marine Corps. The team will also spotlight two children from Smiles Through Cars as Community Heroes of the Game. Smiles Through Cars is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization that helps bring smiles to critically ill children and young adults by surprising them with rides in premium cars with superhero characters.
