Zombie House in Coram Eradicated

Written by Lon Cohen  |  14. November 2023

In a move to eliminate an eyesore from the community, Councilman Michael Loguercio, Deputy Supervisor Dan Panico, and Supervisor Ed Romaine oversaw the demolition of a burnt-out "zombie house" at 11 Third Street in Coram.

The Town of Brookhaven, acting under the provisions of Chapter 73 of the Town Code, swiftly executed the demolition, employing a "fast track" approach to eradicate unsafe structures that blight neighborhoods.

The financial responsibility for the demolition and debris removal falls on the property owner, with the Town imposing a lien on the property, subsequently reflected in the tax bill. Suffolk County facilitates the reimbursement to the Town, collecting the funds from the property owner.
