Police Announce Tragic Passing of Motorcyclist Involved in Bellmore Collision with Bicycle Rider

The Homicide Squad reports that a motorcyclist involved in a Vehicular Accident that originally occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 6:55 pm in Bellmore has passed away.
 
According to Detectives, a male operating a black motorcycle westbound on Sunrise Highway, in the vicinity of Rose Place, struck a male bicyclist who was attempting to crossing Sunrise Highway southbound to northbound. As a result of the collision the motorcycle caught on fire.
 
The bicyclist was transported to a local area hospital with trauma injuries and is listed in stable condition. 
 
The motorcyclist, identified as Richard Sorrentino, 34, of Queens, was transported via Nassau County Police Helicopter to a nearby hospital with severe trauma and burns, where he was listed in critical condition. He was pronounced deceased by a hospital physician on Friday, November 8, 2024.
 
The investigation is on-going.
