AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. A man wearing a mask entered Cold Spring Motors/Gulf gas station, displayed what appeared to be a handgun, and demanded cash, cops say.

Cold Spring Harbor, NY - November 13, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred in Cold Spring Harbor on Sunday, November 11.
 
A man wearing a mask entered Cold Spring Motors/Gulf gas station, located at 27 Harbor Road, walked behind the counter, displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash. The clerk complied and the robber fled on foot westbound on Harbor Road. There were no injuries.
 
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall,
 
180 pounds, with black hair, wearing a black jacket, black pants, black gloves and a black mask.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
