AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Massive Garden City Park Fire Under Investigation

The Arson/Bomb Squad is investigating a fire that occurred on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. in Garden City Park.

Garden City Park, NY - November 14th, 2014 - The Arson/Bomb Squad is investigating a fire that occurred on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. in Garden City Park.

According to detectives, the Garden City Park Fire Department responded for a building fire at 194 Atlantic Avenue. Additional departments were called to assist in extinguishing the fire which caused a partial collapse of the building. The Long Island Rail Road suspended service for a brief time due to the proximity of the fire to the tracks. The Fire Departments had approximately 20 pieces of apparatus and 100 firefighters on scene and no injuries were reported.

The cause is undetermined at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
