Islip, NY - November 16th, 2013 - Another Alligator has been found in Suffolk County. This time, the 13 inch reptile was found in a home in Islip.
Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that this is the 20th Alligator found on Long Island in the past year. Suffolk County SPCA Detectives were called to the house by Suffolk County Police 3rd Squad Detectives who were investigating an unrelated matter. NYS DEC Police were called to the home by the SPCA and the owner may faces charges for possession of the reptile.
The Alligator appeared healthy and is being held by the SPCA pending transfer to a licensed facility.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
