County Executive Bellone Announces Extended Services for Seniors During Medicare Open Enrollment
Suffolk County, NY - November 16, 2018 - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today announced that the Office for the Aging will offer extended services to help seniors navigate the open enrollment process for Medicare through December 7, 2018. The Suffolk County Office for the Aging is adding four additional locations to their outreach schedule that will provide twenty additional hours for seniors to meet with counselors at local libraries across the county, to provide information and assist with sign-ups.
“Suffolk County urges all residents who are eligible for Medicare to speak with a professional at the Office of the Aging,” County Executive Steve Bellone said. “We are here to answer any questions or assist in any way that we can to make sure Medicare recipients and those who qualify acquire adequate health care for all of their needs.”
Holly Rhodes-Teague, Director of the Suffolk County Office for the Aging said, “Expanding hours to accommodate the aging population in Suffolk County is important to our mission. The Suffolk County Office for the Aging is dedicated to ensuring all residents have access to the numerous services offered at their convenience.”
The Office for the Aging contracts with RSVP to provide the Health Insurance Information, Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) which provides trained counselors to assist Medicare enrollees review their coverage and make informed decisions.
