Cyclists Pedal Toward a Cure Inside Peloton Window for the Diabetes Research Institute

Jericho, NY - November 17, 2016 - Diabetes Research Institute supporters and avid cyclists David Newman and Keith Adwar took over the storefront window of the Peloton store in Manhasset, Long Island, on Nov. 12 to bring attention to Diabetes Awareness Month.

Wearing their Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) jerseys, the duo pedaled on stationary bikes for two-hours straight in the window display -- drawing the attention of hundreds of passersby -- and even inspiring several to donate toward a cure.

“Once considered impossible, a cure for diabetes is in sight. With help from charitable partners like the Peloton store and generous donors, this dream will soon become a reality,” David Newman said.

Attendees were given informational material about diabetes and the work scientists are doing at the DRI to find a biological cure for diabetes. Both Adwar and Newman have been touched by diabetes in different ways, and they have dedicated their efforts toward raising funds for the DRI. People can still contribute to the cause by going online.
