UPDATE - Female Pedestrian Fatality After Tow Truck Strikes Her in Massapequa Park

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal vehicular accident involving a pedestrian which occurred on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 4:45 a.m. in Massapequa Park.

The female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Police Department medic at 4:50 a.m. The vehicle remained at scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Update - November 17, 2016 - Detectives identify Rebecca M. Tighe, 26, of Seaford as the victim in this accident.  Brake and safety checks were performed at the scene.  No apparent criminality is suspected at this time.  The investigation is ongoing.

Massapequa Park, NY - November 17, 2016 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal vehicular accident involving a pedestrian which occurred on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 4:45 a.m. in Massapequa Park.

According to detectives, a tow truck travelling eastbound on Sunrise Highway struck a female pedestrian who was crossing northbound at Park Boulevard.  The female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Police Department medic at 4:50 a.m.  The vehicle remained at scene and the investigation is ongoing.
