Lucharitos, the Mexican food and tequila restaurant chain, opened its fifth Long Island location in Melville in October.
The name Lucharitos means little fighter and according to the restaurant’s website, the owners named it for their first born son who battled some illness after birth and the rebuild after Hurricane Sandy of their restaurant. The restaurant has a Lucha libre aesthetic, with the iconic wrestling mask serving as part of their logo.
The menu features starters like Mexican street corn , off the cob, topped with chipotle mayo, cotija cheese, cilantro, and lime ($10), Mexican ribs, Lucha's famous fried ribs, ($16), and lobster guacamole, fresh made guac with grilled lobster and chips ($22).
They also serve up quick but fresh tacos ($11-$14), burritos ($14-$18), and platos, main entrees with sides, like the Superfly Snuka, BBQ roast pork topped with pineapple salsa and served with mixed vegetables ($18), Luchita, their version of fajitas with a choice of chicken or mixed vegetables ($21), or add steak or shrimp (+$3).
