Lake Grove, NY - November 22nd, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Precinct officers, with assistance from a Good Samaritan, rescued a woman who was trapped in a burning vehicle following a crash last night.
Fourth Precinct Officers David Vlacich and Bryan Boudreaux responded to a 911 call received at 5:45 p.m. regarding a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Middle Country Road and New Moriches Road in Lake Grove. When the officers arrived, they noticed that one of three vehicles involved in the crash, a blue Ford Focus, was on fire and that there was a woman trapped inside the vehicle.
Officers Vlacich and Boudreaux, with assistance from David Ayala, 37, of Centereach, managed to open the vehicle, remove the unconscious woman from her car and pull her to safety. The woman in the Ford, Stephanie McNamee, 23, of Holbrook, was transported by Centereach Fire Department Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was treated for serious injuries.
The driver of a Jeep Liberty, Emily Clancy, 63, of Farmingville, was transported at Stony Brook University Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. The driver of a third vehicle, Amy Freilich, 23, of Farmingville, was not injured.
The three vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
