AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. 17-Year-Old Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash in Central Islip

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a 17-year-old in Central Islip this evening.

Anthony Fucci, 17, was ejected from his car after losing control of his vehicle and striking another car.

Central Islip, NY - November 23, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a 17-year-old in Central Islip this evening.

Anthony Fucci was driving a 1999 Honda Civic northbound on Lowell Avenue when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck a south bound 2008 Toyota Sequoia near Satinwood Street.  Fucci, of Central Islip, was ejected from his Honda.  He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore via Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Toyota, Vladimir Moreno, 33, of Central Islip, and his 4-year-old and 9-year-old sons, were also transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where they were treated for minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.  Detectives ask anyone with information about this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
