Queens Man in Custody on Multiple Charges, Including Harassing Child, Biting NCPD Officer
The Third Squad reports on the arrest of a Queens man for the Assault on an Officer that occurred on November 21, 2022 at 9:55 PM in East Meadow.
According to Detectives, a 36-year-old female and her seven-year-old daughter were waiting near the bus stop outside of NUMC, located at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike, when defendant Marcelo Sanchez Hidalgo, 36 of 108-11 35th Avenue, Corona, approached them.
Defendant Marcelo began to verbally and physically harass the child. The mother took her child and went into NUMC, where a Lynbrook Police Officer was inside. The Officer located and placed defendant Marcelo under arrest without further incident and was transported to the Third Precinct.
During the arrest processing, defendant Marcelo attacked a Nassau County Police Officer and bit him on the right arm, causing substantial pain and swelling. The Officer and defendant Marcelo were both transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment.
Defendant Marcelo Sanchez Hidalgo is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Harassment 2nd degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
