North Bellmore, NY - November 25, 2014 - On Thursday, November 13th, members of the community gathered at 2820 Jerusalem Avenue in North Bellmore to celebrate the opening of North Shore Farms new store location. Legislator Norma Gonsalves, Legislator Gary Hudes, Town Supervisor Kate Murray, and representatives from both the Nassau County and Bellmore Chambers of Commerce, along with representatives from various local organizations, came together with other local leaders to mark the opening with a ribbon cutting. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was preceded by a traditional Greek Orthodox blessing service (“Agiasmo”) presided over by priests from nearby parishes. It was just the start of an exciting weekend for the newest member of the community.
The following morning, the locally-hired North Shore Farms team placed the finishing touches on its aisles and opened the doors at 9 AM to a line that wrapped around the store. Employees welcomed and cheered for the new customers as they entered. Many customers on Friday left with reusable North Shore Farms totes.
“We’re excited to bring North Shore Farms to North Bellmore and Long Island’s South Shore,” said George Tsiatis, a representative of North Shore Farms. “We appreciate the warm welcome of the community and the excitement that the neighborhood shares for the wide array of food options North Shore Farms provides.”
The fun continued on Saturday and Sunday. Local DJs spent time on site, with giveaways and prizes for guests. Guests explored the fresh produce section and talked to the staff about freshly-baked goods, the fresh seafood and meat selections, the seemingly limitless supply of cheeses, and the aisles of ready-to-eat prepared foods—many of which were available to sample. Shoppers were also treated to cooking demonstrations, samples, and giveaways from local vendors.
The new North Bellmore store is North Shore Farms’ sixth location on Long Island, and its first on the south shore. The store is open 7 days a week, from 7AM-10PM.
