AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

Officials: Two Machete-Wielding Suspects Attempt to Rob Victim in Garden City Park

NCPD reports an Attempted Robbery that occurred in Garden City Park.

Garden City Park, NY - November 26, 2018 - The Third Squad reports the details of an Attempted Robbery that occurred at 12:55am on Friday, November 23, 2018 in Garden City Park.
 
According to Detectives, the male victim, 37, was walking on Dennis Street when he was approached by a two door black colored Acura. The driver, suspect one, is described as a white male with a slender build wearing a Boston baseball style hat, a hoodie style sweatshirt and a jacket. The front passenger, suspect two, is described a male with dark colored skin wearing a Yankees baseball style hat with a hoodie style sweatshirt and jacket.
 
Suspect two calls out to the victim for money, the victim refuses, at that time the suspect displays a silver machete causing the victim to run. The victim’s last view of the suspect vehicle is southbound on Old Broadway where the vehicle turned right onto Railroad Avenue. The victim calls 911, no injuries are reported. The investigation continues.
