Recently, Councilwoman Jane Bonner, who is a kidney transplant donor herself, was a guest speaker during the Stony Brook University Student Volunteer Appreciation Event held at the Shore Club Student Activity Center. 
 
The event was sponsored by LiveOnNY, a nonprofit, federally designated organ procurement organization (OPO) dedicated to saving and changing lives, providing comfort, and strengthening legacies through organ, eye, and tissue donation.
