LIGHT ACCUMULATING SNOW TUESDAY MORNING A fast moving system will bring a band of light snow to the area Tuesday morning. A coating to less than 1 inch of snow accumulation is forecast. Roads will become snow covered due to the recent cold weather resulting in slippery travel conditions. Anyone planning to travel Tuesday morning should use extra caution. The accumulating snow will quickly come to an end late morning through midday with temperatures rising into the middle and upper 30s in the afternoon.

Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) secured a $22,348 grant for Freeport-based Ladles of Hope in support of its hunger-fighting mission after the Legislature voted unanimously on Wednesday, Nov. 20 to release the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.
 
Based at Our Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Freeport, Ladles of Hope, Inc. is a not-for-profit volunteer organization and 501 (c)(3) corporation that serves individuals and families in need in Nassau County through soup kitchens and pantries. The organization is fully volunteer-powered and operates entirely on private donations.
 
“Ladles of Hope’s steadfast commitment to feeding the hungry is made evident by the fact that many of the organization’s volunteers have been active for decades in supporting this important cause,” Legislator Koslow said. “I applaud their efforts and know that these ARPA funds will go a long way toward enhancing their efforts to combat food insecurity in our region.”
 
“As a longtime parishioner and cantor at Our Holy Redeemer, I have frequently seen the volunteers and leaders of Ladles of Hope in action in pursuit of their philanthropic vision,” Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) said. “I applaud Legislator Koslow for working to secure these funds and am excited for the good that they will do in our community!”
