Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a bicyclist in North Bellport on Tuesday, November 26.
Christina Marcano was driving a 2007 GMC Envoy northbound on Post Avenue when she apparently suffered a medical event and the vehicle struck a bicyclist that was crossing the road at approximately 1:50 p.m.
The bicyclist, Joseph Vujasin, 57, of Brookhaven, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue in critical condition. Marcano, 44, of Bellport, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for evaluation. There were two passengers in the GMC who were not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
