East Hampton, NY - November 28, 2014 - “Reel Montauk” Screening to Be Held at East Hampton Town Historical Farm Museum Christmas Party The third public screening of “Reel Montauk” will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the East Hampton Town Historical Farm Museum (on the corner of Cedar Street and North Main Street) in East Hampton, NY. The Farm Museum’s Christmas party celebrates the Museum’s first year and runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. followed by the “Reel Montauk” screening and the auction of four Dominy pieces, two blanket chests, a candlestick and a chair from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Tickets for the auction are $25 per individual and $40 per couple. The money raised from this event will pay for the Farm Museum’s electric and gas bills for the winter.
Reel Montauk uses old footage, animation, and original music with insightful interviews of long-time local residents. The film explores the natural beauty and rich history of Montauk. Watch the trailer below!
Montauk is not unlike the rest of the Hamptons, which has in recent years been discovered by the affluent, hipsters from New York City as well as foreign visitors. The area is a playground that is rich in history and legend. The host of the film is long-time resident Tom Bogdan of Montauk Adventures. Bogdan details the lives of two major Montauk visionaries: Carl Fisher and Herbert Sadkin. The film depicts how their unique visions led to the Montauk of today. John Barrett wrote, directed and produced “Reel Montauk” and Steve Elliot was the cameraman and editor of the film.
The East Hampton Town Historical Farm Museum in the Selah Lester House presents a snap shot of what life was like in East Hampton, NY during 1900. This period in East Hampton history has not been explored before. East Hampton Town owns the three-acre property and the two-bedroom cottage Museum features a growing collection of furnishings, kitchen utensils and other common farmhouse tools. The Farm Museum is open to the public Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
