Update: Want to add a home to the map? Click here to learn how!
The online user who compiles a map of thousands of the best Long Island homes lit up for Christmas has finally released the 2022 version.
You can see the map here.
“Well it's official. Time to take a drive and check out some amazing light displays across the island,” the user posted to the LI Lights Map Facebook page. “Below is the LI Lights Map. Share it with your friends and on other social media apps, parent groups, etc. If you happen to find a new house take a picture, get an address (take a screenshot from your nav app) and send it to me.”
There is also a Google Spreadsheet that lists all of the homes organized by town.
“On the bottom you will find pages dedicated to just Suffolk or just Nassau as well as only houses with light shows,” a description of the spreadsheet says. “They are all linked to the main page. This is a live spreadsheet and is always being updated so please check it before you go out.”
The map maker admits that the work is never really done and involves the Long Island community to make it happen.
There are a lot of houses that need to be verified so assistance is needed,” the mapmaker said in an online post. “This is a yearly community project that I run. The success of this map is due to so many nice people taking a moment to share some info or pictures.”
Instructions on how to use the map come directly from the LI Lights Map page: If you are using an iPhone - click on a green bulb, swipe up and you will see photos. To get there just choose open in Google maps and navigate to the house. There is a ton of useful info in the map description.
Happy hunting!
