Making Suffolk County Millennial-Friendly is Topic for PO Gregory’s Business Forum
Hauppauge, NY - November 30, 2018 - Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory is continuing his effort to bring business and government together with a half-day program at Farmingdale College that will focus on the county’s millennial population and the role that government and business play in attracting and retaining young professionals.
“Making Suffolk County Millennial-Friendly” will bring business, education, housing and financial institutions to the table for two panel discussions: “How to be a Millennial-Friendly Workplace,” and “Millennial Retention.”
“I recognize that Suffolk County has a responsibility to learn about the issues that are impacting its residents and to bring people together for an exchange of ideas as to how to resolve these issues,” said Presiding Officer Gregory. “Millennials, who are college graduates, may want to stay here but are unable to find affordable housing, or a job that pays enough to live comfortably while still paying their college loans. We need to assist them with finding the answers by bringing important players together to work toward solutions so they can make informed decisions regarding their future.”
On board for the event, which will be held at Farmingdale College on December 7, are Long Island Housing Partnership, H2M, Hofstra University, the Long Island Association, Northwell Health, Long Island Builders Institute, Realty Connect USA, SHRM-Long Island, SONYMA, Launchpad Huntington, the Manufacturing Consortium of Long Island, Dealertrackand the Hauppauge Industrial Association, among others.
Registration for the event will be from 7:30-8:15 am with the program to begin at 8:30 am. The first panel “How to be a Millennial-Friendly Workplace” will be from 9-10:30 am followed by a ten minute break. Panel discussion two “Millennial Retention” will run from 10:45-12:15 pm with a question and answer to follow from 12:20-12:45 pm.
