North Bellmore, NY - November 30, 2018 - First Squad Detectives report the Arrest of a North Bellmore man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 11:00 p.m. in North Bellmore.
According to detectives, the female victim, 26, had a verbal argument with an unknown male in the parking lot of 7-11 located at 1714 Newbridge Road. After arguing, the male displayed and handgun and pointed it at the victim and her 6 year old son. The victim called 911 to report the incident. While the victim was on the phone with a 911 operator, the male pointed the handgun up in the air and discharged two rounds. The subject then fled the scene in a black BMW. No injuries were reported.
A subsequent investigation was conducted and Michael Ripert, 21, was arrested for the above incident. The following items were removed from his residence.
- AK-47 rifle
- 171 AK-47 rounds
- 4 large capacity AK-47 magazines
- Pistol grip shotgun (loaded)
- Glock handgun speed loader
During the investigation detectives recovered the following items at an undisclosed location:
- Glock 9mm handgun with a large capacity magazine (loaded)
- 22 round capacity Glock extended magazine (loaded with 21 rounds)
- 34 round capacity Glock extended magazine (loaded with 34 rounds)
- 30 round capacity AK-47 extended magazine (loaded with 29 rounds)
- A box of 26 9mm rounds
It was determined Ripert was responsible for discharging a gun multiple times on Montgomery Street, Wantagh. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 1:04 am.
Defendant Ripert was charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, two (2) counts of Reckless Endangerment, Menacing 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. The defendant was arraigned on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
