West Hempstead Man Hits Lottery Big TWICE in ONE DAY to the Tune of $2 Million
Who says lightning doesn't strike twice in the same spot?
A West Hempstead man is a cool $2 million richer after hitting the New York State Lottery not once, but TWICE in one day.
Marco Accardo hit the second-prize jackpot on two Mega Millions lottery tickets during the Saturday, November 11 drawing, New York Lottery officials say. The winner had purchased both both tickets at the Bolla 820 Hempstead C-Store at 820 Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead.
Reports say that Accardo had used the same five numbers on each ticket, with each having a different Mega Ball number. He opted to take the payouts in one lump sum; after taxes, that amount came to $651,000 per ticket, for a grant total of $1,302,000.
