Pedestrian in Serious Condition, 77-Year-Old Driver Leaves the Scene to Return Back Later and Arrested

Manhasset, NY - December 1, 2016 - Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a serious auto accident, involving a pedestrian, that occurred in Manhasset on Wednesday, 11/30/16 at 4:43 P.M.

According to detectives, Hossein Zamani, 77, of Great Neck, was operating a 2005 Honda Odyssey van, north on Community Drive/Pond Hill Rd., when he struck a male pedestrian, 68, who was attempting to cross the street.  The defendant left the scene of the accident and returned approximately one hour later, where he was placed under arrest.

The victim, who sustained internal injuries, was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

Zamani is being charged with Leaving the Scene of an  Accident with Serious Physical Injury and will be arraigned on Thursday, 12/01/16 in First District Court, Hempstead.
