AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Motorcyclist Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash in Bay Shore

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Bay Shore.

Kenneth Boos, 31, of Bay Shore was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Bay Shore, NY - December 4, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Bay Shore.

Kenneth Boos was operating a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Pine Acres Boulevard when his motorcycle collided with a 2002 Toyota, driven by Brianna Valdes, that was traveling westbound on Huron Drive at 11:53 a.m. on December 3.

Boos, 31, of Bay Shore, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. Valdes, 23, of Bay Shore, was not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
