Another Zombie Home Demolished in Shirley

Written by Lon Cohen  |  10. December 2023

On November 28, Deputy Supervisor Dan Panico participated in the demolition of a dilapidated house, commonly referred to as a "Zombie House," situated at 64 Hounslow Road in Shirley.

The property, neglected for numerous years, was overrun with trees, bushes, tall grass, and a thick layer of leaves. The vacant and deteriorating house was taken down by the Town's Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management, and the land was meticulously cleared of all debris. The Town has designated the property to be preserved as open space.

"In our battle against suburban blight, we are emerging victorious for the well-being of our communities," Deputy Supervisor Panico remarked.
