Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident Reported at Jericho LIE Exit, According to Police

Kenneth Young, 49, of Brooklyn, was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 3:06 am in Jericho.
 
According to Detectives, Nassau County Police Department Highway Officers responded to the Long Island Expressway at exit 40 for an auto accident. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2012 Chevy Suburban, driven by a 49-year-old male operator, was traveling eastbound in the right lane when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn. 
 
The Suburban struck the rear of a 2023 Dodge Delivery Van, operated by a 55-year-old male operator, that was pulled over to the side of the Expressway. A 2019 Freightliner, operated by a 43-year-old male, then struck the Suburban which had come to a stop in the right lane. 
 
Nassau County Police Medics pronounced the operator of the suburban, Kenneth Young, 49, of Brooklyn, deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported. 
 
The investigation is ongoing.
